 About us

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers are a First Nations police service, located in the Mohawk territory of  Kahnawake, Quebec. Established in 1979, we provide professional, proactive law enforcement services to the community of Kahnawake, which has a population of approximately 10,000. Kahnawake’s close proximity to the Island of Montreal, brings approximately 100,000 motorists, daily, through the territory. The Kahnawake Peacekeepers are the only First Nations police service in North America, that is staffed entirely with First Nations people. The Peacekeepers enforce Band bylaws, The Criminal Code of Canada and the Quebec Highway Safety Code.
