About Us

The Quebec Association of First Nation and Inuit Police Directors was created in 2019 but formally took off in 2021. The QAFNIPD's main mission is to support and represent as a single voice Quebec First Nations and Inuit public safety professionals in their development to better serve their communities. The First Nations people of the Province of Quebec constitute all the peoples established on the territory of Quebec prior to the French colonization of America. They include Abenaki, Iroquoian, Anishinabeg, Atikamekw, Cree, Huron-Wendat, Innu, Inuit, Maliseet, Mi'gmaq, Mohawk, and Naskapi. These eleven First Nations are spread across the entire territory of Quebec within 55 communities.


Be the indispensable reference point in matters of Indigenous policing services for its members, the police community, and government authorities.

The Circular Shape

The circular shape of the QAFNIPD logo symbolizes the circle of life, the circle brings together the essential elements of life and represents harmony.

The INUKSHUK

The INUKSHUK in the center of the logo (mound of stones in human form) is an Inuit symbol that represents the human soul, acting as a human, landmark to confirm human presence or passage. The real name is INUNNGUAG.  


The Eagle Feather

The eagle feather on the logo symbolizes truth and courage, the eagle is a universal indigenous symbol.


The Colour Yellow

The predominant yellow color of the logo represents the harvest, the sun (an important element of nature).



Green Outline
The outline of the logo in green symbolizes new life.


The Presence of Yellow, White, Black, and Red Colours

The presence of yellow, white, black and red colours symbolize the inclusiveness of the races, the forefront value of the association.
